Duty sits at the heart of life at Hale, and the final weeks of the 2025 school year have showcased it in abundance. Our incoming prefects stepped confidently into their new leadership roles by launching their first initiative, encouraging the community to support our annual Fill the Foyer Christmas Appeal.
The response was extraordinary. Thanks to the generosity of our Hale community, OzHarvest arrived with two trucks to collect an incredible 1.7 tonnes of food donations. These contributions will be shared with charities supporting people in need, adding a little extra Christmas cheer for many families this season.
Our Year 7 and 8 students also finished the year with purpose through the Houses for Causes fundraiser. The event opened with a powerful talk from Ollie, a participant in On My Feet, who spoke candidly about his experience of homelessness and the positive impact the organisation has had on his life. His message gave our boys real insight into why their fundraising matters and how their efforts support organisations such as On My Feet and Ride Aid.
An afternoon of high-energy house competitions followed, including the ergo challenge, soccer shoot out and pipe works. There was no shortage of teamwork, good humour and spirited competition as the boys celebrated the end of the school year.
We concluded 2025 with Senior School Speech Day, a fitting celebration of the achievements, talent and growth of our students. This year, we were pleased to welcome Old Haleian, Keegan Crage (1983–94), as our guest speaker. Keegan, the founder of On My Feet, lives the School’s motto of duty through his work offering running sessions that help those experiencing homelessness build connection, confidence and purpose.
His reminder resonated strongly with our community: “You make a living from what you get, a life from what you give.”
A meaningful end to a year shaped by service, generosity and shared purpose.
