The 2025 PSA season was Hale’s most successful to date, with seven PSA trophies secured. Our 1st cricket, volleyball, basketball, football, soccer, badminton and rugby teams all finished on top, while the surfing team claimed their carnival for the second year in a row.
The 1st soccer team created history by completing a perfect season, winning all 12 matches after a valuable pre-season tour to Europe. Rugby’s Easter tour to Italy helped prepare the team for a dominant campaign, securing the Brother Redmond Cup after strong performances, including key wins over Trinity and Scotch.
Football delivered another memorable season, with early wins against Christ Church and Trinity setting the tone. A series of close victories followed, culminating in Hale claiming the Alcock Cup for the 25th time. Badminton also had a breakthrough year, defeating defending champions Christ Church Grammar School to win their first premiership since 2020.
Summer sport brought further success, with basketball going undefeated to secure Hale’s third Blackwood Cup in four years. A USA tour over Christmas lifted standards, with captain Andreas Grubisa and vice-captain Tim Ibukunoluwa earning Honours for their performances for Hale Basketball. Cricket capped off a dramatic season by winning the Darlot Cup after a tense final round, supported by a valuable mid-season tour to Sri Lanka that enabled our players to experience cricket in vastly different conditions.
Volleyball enjoyed a thrilling season and earned a share of the Brother Carrigg Shield, marking the fifth time in seven years Hale has won or shared the title.
It’s not just the boys who play in the top teams that should be commended; the breadth of talent, skill and enthusiasm across all levels and teams plays a big part in strengthening our sporting program at Hale. Well done to all the coaches and players involved in setting a new personal best for Hale School.
