Boarding

Since the very beginning, boarding has been at the foundation of Hale School. We remain as committed as ever to boarding and the special opportunities it offers the entire school community.

We know that sending your son off to boarding school is a big decision, both emotionally and financially. Rest assured that we do not take lightly the responsibility of helping to raise your child.

Our caring and experienced boarding staff will work in close partnership with you to provide the best care and support possible for your son.

Typically joining Hale in Year 7, a boarder’s first experience is Brine House, our boarding house for boys in Years 7 and 8. Here, dormitory rooms are shared with other students to help the boys build rapport and peer support structures as they settle into life at Hale.

Once in Year 9, boys move into one of two senior boarding houses (different wings of the same building) continuing to share rooms before having their own room in Years 10 to 12.

Hale boarders benefit from a structured environment that supports them to achieve their potential, with age-appropriate boundaries established for study times, mobile phone usage and off-campus activities after hours and on weekends.

Recognising the benefits in this structure, urban boarding is becoming increasingly popular at Hale, with local students joining the boarding community to take full advantage of the after-hours support available.

Hailing from interstate and around the world, the diversity of backgrounds and experiences our boarding students bring to Hale provides a depth and richness to our school culture that benefits all students – broadening horizons, creating cultural awareness and preparing students for the global workplace.
