 Hale School is Western Australia’s oldest independent boys’ school. Located in the suburb of Wembley Downs, the current campus is situated on a magnificent 48-hectare site, approximately 13 kilometres to the north-west of Perth and two kilometres from the coast.

Hale School is seeking applications from enthusiastic and well-qualified professionals for the position of Design and Technology Workshop Technician, commencing in September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, by negotiation. The Design and Technology Workshop Technician role is integral to the smooth running of the workshop program, including maintaining workshop machinery, procurement of materials and assisting staff and students in the safe preparation and construction of workshop-based projects.

Qualifications

The Design and Technology Workshop Technician requires a broad range of skills and knowledge associated with the tools, materials, processes, and techniques used in a modern Design and Technology workshop. They must be an effective problem solver, capable of disassembling tools and machinery to diagnose issues, performing minor repairs, and coordinating external servicing when required. A current driver’s license and strong computer literacy are essential. Above all, the technician plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and innovative workshop environment that supports high‑quality teaching and student learning.

The successful applicant will:

• have experience in Design and Technology school workshop environments, or equivalent
• have the capacity to supervise and conduct a planned maintenance program for Design and Technology workshops
• have capacity and willingness to assist staff in the preparation of teaching aids and student project materials, and students in the construction of workshop-based projects
• demonstrate an awareness of critical incidents and emergency management procedures in the Design and Technology area
• hold a current Australian driver’s licence
• have a current Working with Children (WWC) check.
