HALE MAKES CHANGES TO BOARDING STRUCTURE FROM 2026

September 8, 2025

Hale School is pleased to announce a new boarding structure designed to better support the developmental needs of our students and enhance their boarding journey.

From the start of 2026, Brine House will be a dedicated Year 7 boarding house, offering a nurturing and supportive environment tailored to help these boys and their families transition into boarding life. This structure, which mirrors the pastoral care model of the day school, is designed to provide greater support for this significant transition.

A small number of Year 11 students will continue to live in Brine House as mentors, fostering a sense of belonging across year groups and continuing the tradition of two boarding houses within one boarding community.

All Year 8 boarding students will be integrated into the Senior Boarding House, reflecting their readiness for greater independence and responsibility. There are developmental opportunities with this move, which mirrors the Senior School House system where boys build relationships with older students in a safe and supportive environment.

Upgrades to boarding facilities will be completed before the 2026 school year in preparation for these changes. Renovations to both boarding houses will ensure the facilities are contemporary and provide optimal room sharing arrangements to support best practice in boarding.

Boarding has always been a cornerstone of Hale School’s identity, adding a rich diversity to the Hale community, with connections to farming communities as well as the South West, Pilbara, Kimberley and overseas.

Hale School remains committed to providing a world class boarding experience that supports every student’s physical, social and emotional development. We are confident that these changes will help us continue to provide the best possible care for all boarding students.
