NEW CHAPLAIN COMMISSIONED

Hale School’s new Chaplain, Father Tom Couper was formally welcomed and commissioned at the end of Term 2.

The Archbishop of Perth, the Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy, AO officiated over the Anglican service and described some of the wonderful and diverse locations around Western Australia that the new Chaplain will come to connect with through Hale’s students.

The service included readings and the presentation of symbols by students, staff, and representatives from the P&F, OHA and Board of Governors.

Father Tom was born in New Zealand and moved with his family of 10 to Australia when he was six years old. He grew up in central Queensland and went to boarding school in Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast. Tom studied education in Brisbane and went on to teach Physical Education and History for five years before moving to London in 2009.

Father Tom continued to teach in London until 2017 when he began his formation for ministry at Westcott House in Cambridge. He has most recently been serving his curacy at the parish of St Michael and All Angels, Bedford Park, London. Father Tom is a keen sportsman withto Gabi and they have four children: Josiah, William, Samuel and Lucy.
