COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER FOR WHOLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

September 25, 2020

The last day of Term 3 brought the whole school together for a fun and fitting end to the term with Hale’s first ever all school Interhouse Athletics Carnival.

Interhouse carnivals have long been a fixture on the Hale School calendar, but usually the Junior School and Middle-Senior School carnivals are run on different days. In a year when connection has been so important, the School decided to bring the entire school community together for a day of festive, family-friendly competition.

The Junior School boys competed in friendly games and competition on the lower ovals while Craig Oval was abuzz with various races and events for the older boys, from long jump to high jump, hurdles, shot put, discuss, javelin and relays.

Families were invited to come along as spectators and enjoy the stalls set up showcasing our charity partners, as well as food trucks and coffee carts.

Although there were mixed forecasts about the weather, it was a beautiful spring day with a wonderful atmosphere that was enjoyed by all.

It was an especially exciting day for Buntine House, which took both the honours for the day as well as the overall Cock House Cup for the first time since 2001! The boys in red really pushed themselves that extra bit to give their all for their house. Turnbull House won the Junior School Carnival, well done boys.

As always, Hale School is most proud of our boys’ willingness to participate, demonstrate sportsmanship and support for each other. After each race, competitors shook hands and patted each other on the back in a true show of gentlemanly behaviour.
