DESCRIPTION:During adolescence teens develop a biological need to be around friends and research strongly suggests that they should be provided opportunities to socialise with their peers whenever possible. \nThrough the teen years\, parties\, gatherings and sleepovers will play an important role in many young people’s lives on a Saturday night\, with alcohol and underage drinking inevitably becoming part of these events for some. \nTo assist parents make decisions in this area\, this presentation will highlight the benefits and the risks associated with these events. DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr Suzy Killmister\nDr Killmister is an Associate Professor and the Head of Philosophy at Monash University. \n\nWhile dehumanisation is one of the worst things that can be done to a person\, examples of it are not hard to find\, even here in Australia. Dehumanisation can come in many different forms\, and this makes it difficult to identify a root cause or to develop tools to prevent it.
