SUMMARY:2026 Garland Music Festival & Concert
DESCRIPTION:Garland Festival\, Sunday 2 August\, 10.00am – 3.00pm \nJohn Inverarity Music and Drama Centre\, Hale School \nThe Garland Music Festival is an annual eisteddfod for Hale School music students established by Lady Lyn Garland in 1977. The aim of the festival is to encourage students to perform as an instrumentalist or vocalist in friendly competition with their peers and to watch each other’s performances. \nStudents\, family\, and friends are encouraged to watch and enjoy performances in various sessions throughout the day. A semi-final performance for the Year 7\, Year 8 and 9 divisions will also be held during the day to determine the overall winner for these sections. \nGarland Finals Concert\, Wednesday 5 August\, 7.00pm \nJohn Inverarity Music and Drama Centre\, Auditorium \nFollowing the festival day\, the Garland Finals Concert will be held in the Auditorium and feature the following performers: \n\nTop three performers from Junior School\nWinner of the Junior School ensemble\nWinner of the Year 7 Shield\nWinner of the David Bean Cup\nWinners of each of the senior sections\n\nThe overall Garland Music Prize winner will be announced at the end of the concert. \nFree Event – No bookings required.

DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Book Week\, you are invited to the launch and performance of a new children’s book by Hale School’s own Artistic Director\, Danny Parker. Hari’s Bones is a gentle story about risk\, resilience and reaching for the stars. \nHari’s Bones will be brought to life by award-winning composer\, Matt Ottley\, illustrator Rache Antonio and Danny Parker\, with a performance through live music\, narrative and the visual arts. This event will also share the writing of our Year 4 students. \nThroughout that week\, our Junior School students will be immersed in contemporary children’s books by The Sound of Picture Books\, followed by workshops with the authors\, illustrators and publishers behind these stories.
