SUMMARY:Philosopher in Residence - Dehumanisation (and what to do about it)
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr Suzy Killmister\nDr Killmister is an Associate Professor and the Head of Philosophy at Monash University. \n\nWhile dehumanisation is one of the worst things that can be done to a person\, examples of it are not hard to find\, even here in Australia. Dehumanisation can come in many different forms\, and this makes it difficult to identify a root cause or to develop tools to prevent it. During this public lecture\, Dr Killmister will explore what it means to say that someone has been “dehumanised”\, and the political implications of how this question is answered. \n\n\n\nThursday 7 August\, 7.30pm – 8.15pm\, followed by a Q&A\nCygnet Theatre\, Hale School \nFREE event (registration required)\, please RSVP here \nRefreshments will be served after the lecture.
