Chef de Partie – Pastry Chef
Full-time, Permanent, commencing October 2025
Hale School is Western Australia’s oldest independent boys’ school, situated in Wembley Downs. The school currently has approximately 1624 students, with close to 180 of whom are boarders living at the school and over 350 staff. The school also has a dynamic and thriving co-curricular program, Old Boys community and an active Foundation and Parents and Friends community. All of which means an extensive calendar of events and functions many of which are supported by the catering services provided by the kitchen team. In addition, the kitchen provides daily meals (five) for the Boarding students, staff lunches, school canteen meals and catering services for the events and functions of the school. The kitchen operates throughout school terms, including evenings and weekends.
Hale School is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for the fixed term position of Chef de Partie – Pastry Chef. Working under the direction of the Executive Chef and Head Chef, the Chef de Partie – Pastry Chef is responsible for the daily pastry preparation and duties of the kitchen and works closely with all members of the catering team to ensure excellent standards of food preparation, food presentation, hygiene and safety are always maintained in the kitchen to deliver high quality meals for the Hale School Community.
This is a full-time, permanent position. Working days are Tuesday to Saturday during term time.
The successful applicant will:
- Have demonstrated experience in a large-scale commercial kitchen.
- Be an excellent communicator and team player.
- Be highly organised and efficient.
- Have excellent knowledge of bulk pastry cooking.
- Be able to work under pressure.
- Hold a relevant trade certificate.
- Have demonstrated knowledge and experience in ensuring the fulfilment of regulatory requirements for kitchens and food safety procedures.
- Be eligible to work in Western Australian schools. This will involve associated Police Clearances and a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
