The Hale School 1st
VIII has won the mighty Head of the River regatta at Champion Lakes.
The Hale crew was emerging as a favourite leading into the race on 17 March 2018, winning several of the regattas in the lead up to the big day. For the Head of the River, Hale was leading the entire race and managed to be a boat length ahead of the nearest rival at the finish line. The boat used a strong tail wind to record the second-fastest ever time on the Armadale course of five minutes and 48.8 seconds.
With many other Hale crews rowing prior (including the winning 9D quad), the build-up to the big race saw a record number of Hale supporters in attendance.
Congratulations to all the rowers who competed on the day, their coaches and the dedicated parents who spent many an early morning getting their boys to training.
