Flagging Olympic success
After participating in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires last year, swimming sensation Ashton Brinkworth (2010-17) returned to Hale School to be honoured by another former Oympian.
In front of Middle and Senior School students at Assembly, Ashton was presented with an Olympic flag by fellow Old Haleian and former gold medal-winning Olympic swimmer, Todd Pearson (1989-94). Pearson was part of the winning team in the 4x200m freestyle final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and won silver in the same event at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Pearson congratulated Ashton and spoke about how Hale School had set him up for success, learning the importance of teamwork, discipline and commitment.
Ashton spoke about the excitement of the Youth Olympic Games and later chatted to the Year 7s about balancing many hours of swim training with studying Medicine at university.
Congratulations Ashton for your hard work, you deserve every success!
