Visual Arts

Hale’s Art department is where creativity and imagination collide, creating an environment where students can discover their talents and explore their artistic potential. Boys are immersed in an inspired atmosphere of drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, graphic design, ceramics, mixed media and sculpture, taught by passionate teachers who are also professional artists.

The Visual Arts programme is about the creative journey, not just the completed work. It allows the students to make mistakes and discover new ways to complete tasks through effort, patience and perseverance. It aims to not only develop a student’s technical and fine motor skills, but to develop their creative spirit.

Hale School has a proud tradition of excellence in Visual Arts. This is highlighted by the consistently high results achieved by Visual Arts students in their external examinations, and the student artworks selected for the annual Pulse Perspectives (formerly Year 12 Perspectives) exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. This exhibition showcases the most creative and technically-skilled student artworks created across the State.
