Junior School

Pre-Primary – Year 6

A boy’s childhood should be a time of joy, curiosity and wonder. Hale School encourages this by offering an engaging learning programme, time and space for physical activity, connection with nature, and caring staff.

At Hale, a boy’s learning is central. Our passionate teachers know every boy and tailor their personal learning journey to provide an enriching experience, nurturing a love of learning. Our teachers plan engaging learning experiences and work collaboratively to ensure that all boys, regardless of their starting points, reach their potential and have every opportunity to excel.

Hale’s award-winning Junior School is purpose-built for boys. There are separate buildings for Lower Junior (Pre-Primary to Year 2), Middle Junior (Years 3 and 4) and Upper Junior (Years 5 and 6), as well as large spaces to connect whole or multi-year groups. Importantly, there are wide-open, green spaces for play and movement, and a much-loved play space set in Hale’s natural bushland. Take a virtual tour of our Junior School.

The opening of the new Junior School in late-2018 gave Hale the space to allow more boys to start their learning journey, while still remaining a small community of approximately 400 boys.

There are two classes for Pre-Primary to Year 3 and three streams in Years 4 to 6. Class sizes are intentionally kept low to ensure each boy is known and catered for, with a maximum of 20 students in Pre-Primary, up to 24 boys in Years 1 to 3, and up to 26 in Years 4 to 6.

Hale Junior School employs specialist teachers in Learning Support, Mathematics, Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Learning Hub, Health and Physical Education, Chinese (Mandarin), Religious and Values Education, and Personal and Social Development.
