Valedictory Day 2009

News Date: 28/10/2009 12:00 PM

Friday 23rd October 2009 Valedictory Day, was a busy and memorable day for Year 12's. The day started with a breakfast in the Dining Hall with Heads of Houses, words by Head of Boarding Brian Clarkson, English teacher Mr Charlie Liggins and Prefect Tom Taylor. Boys then went for their traditional walk around the school as a group reflecting on special events and memories. Boys and families then headed into the Valedictory Assembly where  the prizes were awarded.

The proceedings then commenced again at 5.30pm with a Family Chapel Service, followed by cocktails and delicious finger food on the quad, served by volunteer parents of the Year 11 cohort. Everyone then went into Memorial Hall for Valedictory presentations which included student speeches, gifts from the Old Haleians Association, a beautifully inscribed pen and an amazing performance by Parry House band.

The boys then presented one of their parents a beautifully wrapped red rose donated by the P&F to much tears and delight of the mothers! Of course the night wouldn't be complete without an extremely emotional and hearty " Oh Hale You Beaut..." war cry in the middle of the quad.

Stuart Meade commented  “I was proud of the manner in which the boys approached their final week with us. It enabled us to farewell each and every one of them in a dignified, celebratory way. The various events throughout the Valedictory Day affirmed the strong contribution this group has made to the life of the School over the years. They deserve to enjoy success in their final exams and beyond. I thank them all for all they have given the School over the years.”
