The PSA Inters was held on Friday 11 September 2009 at the new stadium at AK Reserve, next door to Challenge Stadium. The weather forecast was accurate meaning the day was to be halted on several occasions for passing showers and, unfortunately, the weather spooked most schools into leaving the majority of their spectators behind.
The Hale team was well prepared as always, despite the limited time available to do this. We were well aware that our team had a strong chance to win the Alcock Shield but also on the understanding that we needed to get everything right along with a little bit of luck. Well, 2009 will officially go down as ‘the year that could have been’. Unofficially, it will also go down as ‘the year one of our U15 800m runners got locked in the toilet for an hour and watched his race through the window’. It just wasn’t meant to be!
Third position overall was still a very satisfying finish and we hope to build on this momentum in the next few years.
