On the wildest and wettest Thursday in history (except for the day of the Year 8 lap-a-thon) Hale held the Interhouse athletics carnival.
Pending cancellation because of the inclement weather, the carnival managed to go ahead. Even 5km winds didn’t deter the hurdlers or high jumpers, and Sportsmaster Simon Young was extremely proud of the way the boys all took part without complaint and competed in their given events. It seems the parents are more bothered by the weather than the boys.
House spirit was strong and a fierce Wilson House won the T F Hantke Cup by a massive 470 points! Tregonning took second place followed closely by a margin of only 12 points was Parry. St Georges, Buntine, Havelock, Faulkner, Loton, Haynes and Riley were 4th place to 10th place respectively.Wilson also won the JC Taylor Interhouse Open Relay trophy, and the House Masters Cup for the Interhouse relays.
Wilson was the winner of the Cock House Cup (the trophy for all Interhouse sports) which was presented by Wallabies Assistant Coach Richard Graham to House Captain of Wilson, George Cunningham in assembly.
