Three Hale students, Year 12 James Levien and Year 10s Ben Tapley and Liam Hughes were part of the 74 strong WA State Schools Sports Swimming Team that competed at Challenge Stadium last week. This competition was an opportunity for the whole WA to get together as they train separately at their individual clubs. As James was preparing for Mock TEE he was excused from the compeition when he was not competing but the other boys were expected to be at the stadium for the whole week. WA team Manager Sara Levien said, " The Hale students all performed exceptionally well. Apart from all doing personal best times in their events their sportsmanship, manners and behaviour was impeccable and a credit to Hale school. The Year 10 boys both made the National age qualifying times for their events." The boys were appreciative to the school for letting them attend during school hours. They had to fit in tests and homework before and after competing.
James Levien: took 11 seconds off his 400m freestyle time.
Ben Tapley: was in the finals in 100m breastroke, won bronze medal for mixed relay event, and made the 2010 National age qualifying time for 100m breastroke.
