Bishop Hale Medal Awarded for 2009

The Bishop Hale Medal for 2009 was recently presented to Mr Michael Beech OAM, for his service to the community through a range of educational, church, service and sporting organisations, at Hale School’s Founders' Day Assembly on 30th June.

This year’s nominees for the award were all of a very high standard, however the selection committee were unanimous in their decision to award Michael the 2009 medal.  Criteria for candidacy include: unselfish, voluntary devotion to duty and acknowledges personal commitment. All of these attributes exemplify Bishop Hale’s philosophy of voluntary service to one’s community, be it locally, nationally or internationally. The motto for this medal is “Go by duty and not by choice”.

Mr Beech's extensive CV includes being a member of numerous Boards and committees, including:

  • School Board of St Louis, Loreto, John XXIII College and Trinity College
  • Committee Member for the Association for Autistic Children
  • Member Financial Management Committee for Catherine McCauley Centre, Castledare, and Clontarf
  • Life member of the University Football Club
  • Life member and Board Member of the North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club
