OLD HALEIANS ASSOCIATION LISTER DRAKE SCHOLARSHIP

The Lister Drake Scholarship is designed for students currently in Year 10 who are sons or grandsons of Old Haleians.

The Old Haleians' Association has always played an important role in contributing to the aims and welfare of Hale School and its students. For many years, this positive support and involvement has included the Association funding a bursary scheme.

These bursaries are dedicated to providing financial assistance to boys who would enrich Hale School and our community by attending the School, but whose families could not afford the fees because of their circumstances. These bursaries are given on a confidential basis. Many outstanding boys have attended Hale as a result of this opportunity.

These bursaries will continue to be granted. However, in 1995 - assisted by funds bequeathed from the estate of former Deputy Headmaster, Mr Lister Drake - the members of the Old Haleians' Association voted to widen the scope of the scheme. This provided for further scholarships to be awarded based on an eligibility criterion that candidates must be the sons or grandsons of Old Boys of the School.

The scholarship is for Years 11 and 12 to the value of 25% tuition fees. The awarding of the Lister Drake Scholarship will be determined by the completion of an application form, results of an internally set academic examination and an interview. Boys will be shortlisted for an interview based on their application and the results of the examination. The awarding of this honour is publicly acknowledged.

Should you have any queries regarding the Lister Drake Scholarship, please contact the Registrar's Office on 9347 9701 or 9347 9733 or via email registrar@hale.wa.edu.au
